Rumours about Call of Duty Warzone's new map have been floating around the internet for quite a while now but Activision are yet to announce such a massive change to their free-to-play battle royale game. However, according to the latest reports, the announcement could be coming very soon as Activision plan a major revamp of Warzone in the coming months.
The news comes from VGC, who claim that Call of Duty: Warzone's current season will be the last to take place on the original and now iconic Verdansk map. This means that this major map change event will be coming at the end of Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 2, which just launched yesterday.
The battle royale will then transition to a brand new theme, inspired by Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War's 1980s setting, with brand new locations themed around the Black Ops series, which, we have to say, sounds really exciting.
Furthermore, the report states that the change will be marked by an explosive in-game event that will narratively transition Warzone from the Modern Warfare era to a setting more in line with the Cold War. You can probably expect a nuke drop since this has been predicted and teased by the in-game nuclear warheads and silos.
This change will be coming in April 2021, but of course, until Activision gives us more details, take it with a grain of salt, just like any other unconfirmed report.
