Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been a worldwide success. Sledgehammer Games has brought back many players with a revamped multiplayer mode and a new extraction shooter take on the Zombies game mode. Moreover, the multiplayer aspect of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been more successful than its predecessor, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
In Season 1, they introduced a new Zombies and multiplayer crossover game mode, Vortex, which received mass appreciation. Following the success of Vortex, Sledgehammer Games is adding another classic crossover mode, Hordepoint, with the Season 2 update.
New Hordepoint Game Mode Explained
Hordepoint is a Sledgehammer Games original game mode, a new take on the classic game mode Hardpoint. However, the biggest change is the addition of Zombie Hordes. Once a player enters the Hardpoint objective area, Zombies will appear through a portal and swarm the objective to contest both teams.
There is a small chance to acquire a Pack-a-Punch Weapon and three zombie power-ups, including Max Ammo and Instakill, the latter of which only affects the undead by eliminating zombies. Every five Zombie kills equals one Operator kill point for the purposes of acquiring Killstreaks.
Hardpoint is one of the most played game modes in almost every Call of Duty title. Furthermore, it is also a crucial game mode in the Competitive scene. So, a change of pace in the classic mode with the addition of new Zombies will freshen it up for players.
The Hordepoint game mode was first seen in Call of Duty: WWII (2017), which Sledgehammer Games developed. Hordepoint focuses on chaos as the map will be full of twelve players and unlimited Hordes until the game mode finishes. It will be interesting to see how the game mode performs in a more modern setting with powerful weapons such as the MCW, Rival-9 and RGL.
