Treyarch and Raven have rolled out the official Geforce RTX flavoured gameplay reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, with all the ray-traced bells and whistles.
The trailer is, of course, courtesy of Nvidia, whose launch of the Geforce RTX 30 series of graphics cards was a perfect opportunity to show off their performance in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
Calling it a gameplay trailer was probably a mistake though, as most fans expected to see Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War in action alongside some pretty imagery. Nevertheless, the imagery is pretty impressive.
Ray tracing is once again front and centre. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare used ray-traced shadows, so Black Ops Cold War will be upping the ante.
A more than honourable mention goes to Nvidia's DLSS, which can help Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players squeeze out even more performance, as well as improve image quality.
"With the GeForce RTX 30 Series, we’ve been able to expand our ability to realistically immerse players into our game world with the integration of ray tracing features”, said Treyarch's Mark Gordon. "We’re also excited about the introduction of NVIDIA DLSS, which will level up performance", he added.
Interestingly, Nvidia are working with Activision to incorporate Nvidia Reflex tech. The tech apparently optimises system latency, which in layman's terms means a more responsive game.
In-game photography enthusiasts should find Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War to be a blast with Nvidia cards, as it lets you frame and take hi-res snapshots. And judging by what we've seen on the trailer, there will be plenty of stuff worth taking snaps of.
