Activision and Treyarch have rolled out the launch trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War where they showed of the game's incoming Zombies map Firebase Z.
Of course, Firebase Z is but a fraction of the upcoming update, but it's one hotly anticipated fraction. All it takes is a few glances at the trailer and you'll know why, as Treyarch seem to have cooked up a supernatural story in a setting that evokes dread in soldiers even without the zombies.
"Following the events of "Die Maschine," Requiem's next mission brings them deep into the jungles of Vietnam. Under the direction of Grigori Weaver, the team must uncover the secrets of Outpost 25 and face the threat that "lives" within to save Samantha Maxis", the dev wrote in the description.
We've already caught some images and bits of gameplay, but nothing beats the real thing once the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War update has landed on February 4, 2021.
Judging by the trailer, however, Firebase Z is looking like proper, high-adrenaline Call of Duty carnage, with a dash of interdimensional portals added for good measure. And who doesn't like Portal, right?
Treyarch have been pretty excited over Firebase Z, even coming up with the wallpaper you see above as a thank you to fans.
They've certainly deserved it after the much-maligned Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, whose lack of singleplayer discouraged many players from indulging in an excellent battle royale with some pretty neat mechanics.
Thankfully, Activision's revenue tells another story altogether, one of the most successful digital launch in the company's history. And they've got more history than cash, mind you.
