Blizzard have started a list of Overwatch pro players who have been disciplined so far and announced they will keep it going through 2019. The list includes the committed infractions, as well as player names, punishments and their dates.
Overwatch League is not something to be messed with, and Blizzard is taking extreme precautions to keep it free of toxicity, account boosting and sharing practices. Therefore, the company has listed the first seven players who are members of teams competing in the League, and are to be fined for various infractions.
Kelsey "Colourhex" Birse, MinKi "Violet" Park and Damon "Apply" Conti all got suspended for two games, due to account boosting. Shilong "Krystal" Cai was punished for the same infraction, but his suspension will last for only one match. Blizzard didn't list the circumstances that decided the severity of punishments, but Krystal probably didn't dabble in account boosting as the other three pros, which resulted in a lower penalty.
Se-Hyun “Neko” Park was suspended for three games as he apparently sold an account and even obstructed the subsequent investigation. Blizzard noted that the infraction and the punishment were noted earlier, albeit with a wrong description. Suspension-wise, this seems to have been the second-worst infraction on the list, as Riku "Ripa" Toivanen was banned for five games due to in-game toxicity, as well as match throwing.
Won-Jae "Rise" Lee was punished for account sharing, but will be able to play in Overwatch League from get go as his punishment is a $1.000 fine. One could argue that account selling and sharing is essentially the same thing, but the shared account is still presumably in Rise's control, which gives him the power to stop further misconduct.
Blizzard
Funnily enough, Overwatch players are not the only entity Blizzard has banned or punished in 2018. Nine months prior to the , Blizzard came into spotlight as they completely forbade the usage of Pepe the Frog meme. No, Pepe did not boost accounts and wasn't toxic, his is thanks to white supremacists using badges with the meme on them.
