As you may know, Valve have finally heeded the prayers of numerous Half-Life fans by announcing Half-Life: Alyx, a brand new title and the first AAA VR title. You won't be able to play Half-Life: Alyx on mouse and keyboard as the game requires a VR headset and if you're looking to get one before Alyx officially launches, Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals may be your best bet.
Luckily, Half-Life: Alyx works with almost all Steam VR compatible devices, meaning you won't have to spend a ton of money on top tier devices such as HTC Vive PRO. Instead, you can opt for one of the cheaper headsets and we've made a list of the most affordable ones to help you decide.
OCULUS QUEST
Amazon US/UK/DE Price: $399/£399,00/€499
Quest is the most obvious choice. It's affordable, completely cord-free VR headset that comes with 64 GB or 128 GB of storage. Unfortunately, there is no discount but Oculus offers a sweet bundle that includes Star Wars VR series for free. That way, you save $30/£30.
OCULUS RIFT S

Rift S is on a big discount from 28 November 2019. It comes with the Touch controllers, and a huge library of games but most importantly, it's compatible with Half-Life Alyx. Also, you'll need a PC that matches the minimum system requirements, which are not scary at all.
SAMSUNG HMD Odyssey+

Odyssey Plus is probably the best deal you can get during these crazy sales. It features AKG headphones and it comes with two free months of Infinity subscription that gives you unlimited access to hundreds of VR games. It's compatible with SteamVR, meaning that Headcrabs get to jump on your face in March 2020.
For those who are willing to spend extra money, there are a couple of choices such as HTC Vive Cosmos, currently priced at $605/£699,00/€560 on Amazon US/UK/DE. Valve Index is probably the best VR device on the market but its price is way higher than everything we've mentioned here. However, if money is no issue to you, Valve Index is available for $999 and you also get Half-Life: Alyx for free.
