After seeing the first trailers for Atomfall, we must admit that we were extremely excited about this game because everything was pointing out that we will be up for another Boishock-like game that could be able to hit that particular nerve and mix mystery with fantastic action—the very theme of the game was highly promising after all.
A couple of hours ago, Rebellion Developments decided to publish a new trailer with a very lengthy name (Official Extended Gameplay Deep Dive Trailer) that aims to explain many things about the game that were a total mystery to us, and if it was up to us, a mystery they should remain.
Why is that, you might ask? Well, sometimes ignorance is bliss, as the saying goes, because now that we know more about the game, that feeling of anticipation somehow faded away. But enough of that. We are here to talk about the Atomfall's features, and that's exactly what we're going to do.
The trailer goes really on and beyond about everything we should expect in the game, including three main gameplay features that Rebellion aims to deliver in Atomfall: mystery and investigation, exploration, and unique combat.
As we've mentioned earlier, the first trailers made us think the game will lean more towards games like Bioshock and Atomic Heart, with fast-paced first-person shooting mechanics and some light RPG elements, but this trailer showcased something quite opposite.
Atomfall's main feature will be the dialogue paired with some very heavy-influenced decision-making where our decisions can change the entire flow, not just a particular quest but the entire game as well—pretty bold Rebellion, we just hope you'll stay true to your word.
From what we've seen and made our own conclusion, Atomfall could look and feel a lot like the latest RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, Avowed, only with a greater emphasis on firearms (the melee weapons and melee combat are present in Atomfall too).
Atomfall seems like a very interesting game and we cannot wait to try it out ourselves, but for that to happen, we'll have to be patient for at least one month more when the game will become available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and if you own the Xbox Game Pass subscription, it will be available there from day one.
