If you like X-Ray kills from Mortal Kombat and Sniper Elite series you'll be happy to hear that Assassin's Creed: Valhalla will have a similar feature for assassinations.
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is famous for its assassinations especially earlier in the series when players had to plan their moves to perfection in order to execute a perfect blow. With Valhalla, Ubisoft will look to take things even further with the addition of "X-Ray assassinations", which have been teased in the gameplay overview trailer above (15:25).
Players assumed that this is just a cinematic to make the trailer look better but according to Game Director Benoit Richer, these new assassinations will be a part of the gameplay and players will get to trigger them as they please.
"It happens during gameplay/player triggered," Richer replied when asked whether this is just a cinematic or a real feature in the game.
At the moment, we do not have additional information about these assassinations but the devs will probably reveal more info in as we get closer to the release date. We assume there will be a dedicated button for X-Ray assassinations, similar to how Brutalize assassinations work in Middle Earth: Shadow of War.
Potentially, it could also have an effect on the surrounding enemies, making them flee in fear after witnessing such a brutal kill. Of course, this is just a speculation and our personal wish, nothing more than that.
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is officially hitting the shelves on November 17, 2020, for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game will also arrive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
