Healers are essential in most MMOs and it seems like Ashes of Creation will adhere to this rule as the latest dev stream presented the Cleric, who can heal, buff and help out allies in multiple ways.
Intrepid Studios also showcased some party play, which cast a ray of hope for MMO fans who got tired of the old formula of AoE nuking a bunch of enemies.
In any case, there were a total of 18 abilities shown during the stream, most of which are meant to heal allies one way or another.
Some of the abilities will be AoE heals, allowing the Cleric to bump the entire party's health in the right conditions. For example, Resplendent Beam will bounce between friendly targets, making it the perfect choice if allies are clumped up.
In a situation where an ally is heavily wounded but close to the Cleric, Healing Touch would be a better option as it heals a lot but has a very short range.
Clerics will also buff weapons to do additional Radiant damage as well as stun and burn enemies, giving the capabilities of being all-rounders instead of just going down the healbot route.
The party play portion of the stream showed that even with a team of three, it will not be easy taking on many enemies. Facing four or five of them proved to be fairly challenging, giving those hostile creatures more meaning, which runs counter to most MMOs today where enemies barely pose any threat so they are just baited en masse to be nuked by AoE.
