Well, the question was laced with quite a bit of wishful thinking but the answer was a resounding no, as Anthem's lead producer Michael Gamble responded to questions of whether the game will run 4K resolution at 60 FPS on consoles.
Gamble was responding to fan enquiries on Twitter and when asked whether BioWare's upcoming shooter will muster what few games have mustered before, he didn't exactly bring great news.
"No, we've prioritized visuals. We can look at prioritizing frame rate maybe as future thing", Gamble said. Whether your console of choice comes with the Pro or X suffix won't matter much and he reminded that no games can currently have both on consoles made by Sony and Microsoft.
Granted, Rocket League's developer has achieved that feat, as one of the commenters mentioned, but that was only recently. It doesn't take a rocket scientists to see the immense difference in complexity of the two games, so Anthem sticking to 30 FPS in high-resolution settings makes sense.
As you'd expect, the question of cross-play arose as well, with players wanting to know whether Anthem will allow for different platforms playing together. Although it wasn't a resounding no as in the earlier response, we can't say Gamble's response instilled confidence. He just wrote that BioWare are "looking into it!"
No gamer is immune to the choice between eye-candy and frame rate, be they PC or console players, although the latter are pretty much locked into it.
Nevertheless, proud representatives of the master race need not worry about these issues so move along, nothing to see here. Well, except for the cross-play part, although it doesn't seem likely that Anthem will come with that feature right out of the gates. We'd love to be proven wrong, of course, but it doesn't seem very likely at the moment.
