Anno 1800's release date has been pushed back to 16 April 2019. This has now been confirmed by Ubisoft. Blue Byte's real-time strategy was originally scheduled for a February 2019 release but it needs additional polishing and tuning.

Anno 1800's original release date was set for 26 February, but Blue Byte have now confirmed that it's been pushed back to 16 April 2019.

According to a statement by the company, Anno 1800 is currently in a pretty good state, but needs more polishing and tuning before it can hit shelves. "We are very happy with where the game and its wide mix of new and classic features are today, but we know that it can be even better with a little additional polish and tuning," the devs wrote.

Blue Byte said that while the decision to delay Anno 1800 wasn't an easy one, the extra few months will help them deliver a proper Anno experience more in line with customer expectations.

The delay won't disturb plans for the closed beta test on 31 January 2019. Blue Byte confirmed that the closed beta won't have an NDA, so players are free to stream and share the in-game content. They didn't mention how much of that content will be available during the closed beta though.

The developers will also share more info on Anno 1800's multiplayer and campaign in the upcoming weeks. Additionally, some "cool ideas" for post-launch content will be revealed as the game gets closer to its release date.

For those unfamiliar with Anno 1800, it takes place during the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century and aims to bring back "traditional city-building" and ocean combat mechanics.

It will also introduce some new features such as tourism and the effects of industrialisation on your city and its population. Tourists will reject your city if the pollution and industry are too high and will seek places with local festivities and untouched nature.

If Anno 1800 looks like your cup of tea, you can sign up for the closed beta on Uplay.
