Earlier this week, Microsoft shut down three Bethesda studios including Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks, Redfall studio Arkane Austin and mobile game dev Alpha Dog while support studio Roundhouse have been absorbed by Zenimax Online.
As expected, Xbox fans did not take this devastating move lightly. The Community was consistently unified with an opinion that Microsoft's decision to close these studios was completely unacceptable and contrary to everything that Phil Spencer and other Xbox executives promised when they acquired Zenimax for $7.5 billion in 2021.
And while most of the fans took to social media to voice their opinion and dissatisfaction, some decided that sending a message in a video game would probably have a stronger impact. One Fallout 76 fan who found himself on the same server as Phil Spencer, used the in-game nuclear bomb and dropped it on the camp of the Xbox boss.
In a screenshot that is doing rounds on X and that we've attached below, you can see the target area of the nuclear bomb with Spencer's camp in the middle of it. Phil Spencer is well recognised for his "P3" Gamertag across various platforms, including Xbox and social media so we're 100 per cent positive that this is indeed his camp.
It's worth mentioning for those unfamiliar with how nukes in Fallout 76 work, that the bomb will actually destroy or damage the camp and most of the things inside including items and gear, so Phil Spencer will have to do a lot of repairing. Or, he can just leave the server and start somewhere else.
According to Phil Spencer's Xbox profile, he was playing Fallout 76 just yesterday, so it's very likely that this happened during his most recent session. It will be interesting to see if Phil logs into Fallout 76 in the coming days as it's possible that more players will send nukes his way.
Obviously, Phil Spencer should be able to play the game without having nukes dropping on him all the time but it's quite telling just how emotional Xbox players are after the recent events that they've decided to make remind Spencer how they feel, even outside of social media and the real world.
