NetherRealm Studios, the developers of Mortal Kombat and Injustice games, will soon announce their new game, which could be released in 2023, according to the series creator Ed Boon.
Mortal Kombat and Injustice series creator Ed Boon had an interesting conversation with the fans on Twitter where they, among other subjects, spoke about new releases from NetherRealm Studios . He confirmed, in an unsubtle way, that the studio's next game may release sometime in 2023.
The next game from NetherRealm Studios may be Mortal Kombat, Injustice, or something completely different. According to Boon, their new game will also receive the longest post-launch support ever. "Mortal Kombat 11 support was the longest we supported a game. The next game should be even longer."
Ed Boon also tweeted that NetherRealm Studios is creating a game about "Ninjas and Super-heroes" indicating that the new project could be the long-awaited Injustice 3, but don't take our word for it until we get the official announcement.
Given NetherRealm is traditionally a multiplatform studio, we can expect this new game to be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Also, this studio almost always releases its games in April or May, so it is safe to say that this new game could be arriving in spring next year, but again, don't take our word for it, for it is yet to be officially revealed.
The last two games from these two series, Mortal Kombat 11 and Injustice 2 were pretty decent fighting games with a vast selection of play mods and content fit for hardcore fans, as well as casual players. We expect nothing less from this studio's upcoming title.
Whether this new game from NetherRealm Studios comes out in 2023 or not, next year is going to be amazing for fans of fighting games, as Street Fighter VI and Tekken 8 are arriving in 2023. This new game should be a nice addition to an already great fighting year.
