Insomniac Games revealed two new Marvel titles at PlayStation Showcase

Let's face it - last night's PlayStation Showcase was not the amazing show that we all expected it to be. Quite frankly, if it weren't for Insomniac and two massive reveals, the show would have been pretty mediocre.

The hype levels for the PlayStation Showcase were through the roof, as expected with Sony's events. It helped that not a single game from the showcase leaked so players did not really know what exactly they were getting, which always helps to fuel the hype even further.

However, after watching the whole thing last night, I don't think we got what an amazing show that everyone expected. Of course, the show was not bad in any way but also wasn't the great showcase that PlayStation Studios devs kinda hinted at with their hype tweets over the last couple of days.

Quite frankly, if it weren't for restless Insomniac studio who revealed their two brand new titles in Marvel's Wolverine, which I cannot wait to play, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2, another blockbuster title, the PlayStation showcase would be quite underwhelming.

OK, we got to see God of War gameplay which looked good but at the same time not as impressive as the God of War 2018 gameplay reveal. Something looked off there and I think that wasn't the best trailer for the showcase, something that former God of War director David Jaffe also points out.

God of War clearly looked like a cross-gen title and did not have that "wow" factor we expect from Sony's new games. Horizon Forbidden West is the perfect example of the "wow factor" - despite being a cross-gen game, it still blew our minds with how good it looked.

Furthermore, Sony spent 30+ minutes showing us trailers for games that we've already seen several times (Deathloop, Forspoken) and the funny thing about these trailers is that they probably were the most interesting ones of the entire show. I'm not saying they shouldn't be at the show but we all know why we tuned in - to see the next big things from PlayStation Studios - but it looks like only Insomniac Games are delivering for Sony at the moment.
