Riven, the latest adventure from Cyan Worlds, is a game brimming with puzzles so hard to solve that leaving the game will cross your mind on several occasions due to their complexity and difficulty.
Of course, if you're determined, you won't do that, and from time to time, you'll definitely need outside help because the puzzles are so complex that, at times, you'll be left wondering what to do next.
Luckily, we are here to provide you with that help, especially with hard puzzles like the one featuring stroboscopes. So, if you're stuck with this puzzle, this guide is here to help you solve it.
How to solve the stroboscope puzzle in Riven
The first stroboscope you'll come across is located on Temple Island and is part of the rotating room contraption. Once you gain access to the golden dome as a part of the main story, you'll see a lot of windows through which you can peek if you want, and each of those windows is looking towards one of the Riven islands.
Take note of the one looking towards the rotating dome located close to the rotating room, and remember the symbol related to it on the window. These symbols are randomised for each playthrough, so yours might be different than someone else's. In any case, after you remember the symbol, leave the golden dome and rotate the rotating room, taking advantage of the secret passage located beneath it, to gain access to the rotating dome.
As soon as you enter the catwalk leading towards the rotating dome, look to the right, and you'll see the stroboscope there. Interact with it, and you'll see that the symbols are constantly changing in the lens. Press the button on top of the stroboscope once the correct symbol appears. This might be a little tricky to achieve, but after several attempts, you'll do it; do not be wary.
Once you successfully hit the correct symbol, the rotating dome will stop and open the path towards Starry Expanse. Inside this place is a new set of puzzles you'll have to solve because this game is just that: puzzle after puzzle.
