The puzzles in Riven, the latest puzzle adventure from Cyan Worlds, are made differently and will intrigue you very much, mostly because they are very difficult and partly because of their very interesting design.
Inside the third chapter, more precisely at its very beginning, you'll come across a puzzle featuring a boiler device and some pipes connecting it, right next to an artistically created lake.
The entrance to this boiler device is sealed hut, but there is a way to enter it. If you do not know how, we have a guide that will show you the process, step-by-step.
How to enter the boiler device in Boiler Island
Once you reach the boiler device, you'll notice a catwalk leading to the centre of the lake. Go over this catwalk and interact with the valve there. Turn the valve to let the water flow towards the boiler and then climb the stairs and go left on a catwalk next to the entrance. You'll see a lot of valves and pipes you can interact with here.
As you face a small window through which you can see inside the boiler room, look to the right. There, you can see a valve which can be turned. By doing so, you'll cannel the heat away from the boiler, and that will let you access the previously sealed door. But before you do that, turn the valve on the left to drain water from the boiler room.
Now, enter the room and use stairs in the middle to descend into tunnels beneath. Follow the tunnel all the way to the end, and then take the only available path. This will take you to the catwalks above the boiler room. Here, unlock the shortcut and return to the centre of the lake to channel water to this specific place. Before leaving this place, you should set the boiler to heat water and then let it flow towards the centre of the lake. Do this and you're ready to leave the boiler area through newly unlocked shortcut.
