A Riot Games' employee announced the new changes for the 10.8 patch and we could see some meta shifts for the mid lane. Even though the patch is focused mostly on the AD Carry and jungle roles, there are some changes for the mid lane as well.
Riot Games' lead gameplay designer, Mark Yetter, has released the intended changes we will most likely see in the 10.8 patch. Even though not too many mid lane champions were targeted in the patch, some of those who were will surely go up or down in priority, compared to the previous patch.
After classifying the top lane picks , we have now prepared a list of the best champions you should play in the mid lane for patch.
Fizz and Diana have been a top priority in the mid lane for a couple of patches now and it seems as no nerfs are coming their way. We've placed Kassadin in the S tier because of his sheer late-game power which can't be matched by any other mid laner out there. All you have to do is survive his somewhat weak early game, which could take a couple of games to get used to.
Orianna has been in a decent place in patch 10.7 which means that the upcoming buffs will surely make her one of the best control mages in the game. Neeko currently holds the highest win rate with 53.6 per cent for the mid lane. This could be caused by her low pick rate, but she's surely worth trying out.
- Twisted Fate
If the list was created for the lowest ranks only, Annie would definitely be S tier because of her very straightforward kit which is easy to use once you play a game or two.
On the other side, champions like Azir may require hundreds of games before played properly, so if you aren't comfortable with his unique playstyle, the best idea would be to avoid him.
- Aurelion Sol
Champions like Sett and Wukong are strong in most of the roles right now and that flex pick potential is the main reason why they found their place on the mid lane tier list.
The list is made for Diamond and the ranks bellow, therefore you should avoid picking anyone we haven't mentioned here, as there are champions with similar kits and playstyles, but with a greater carry potential overall.
