Helldivers 2 is a survival shooter from Arrowhead Game Studios, published by Sony Entertainment. The game takes players on a conquest for democracy by dispatching them on missions against Terminids and Automatons.
While Terminids and Automatons are the most familiar enemy types for all players, Helldivers have been introduced to a new, evolved enemy type called Shriekers with the latest update. The new Terminid strain Shriekers has made its way to Helldivers 2, and here's how you can defeat them on any difficulty.
How to Defeat Shriekers in Any Difficulty
Shriekers usually appear on high-level planets. They are typically found near Shrieker nests and alongside Terminid patrols. While Shriekers generally die after getting shot a few times, hitting them is hard as they are the only aerial-type enemy in Helldivers 2.
Defeating Shriekers while completing a mission or before extraction can help you successfully complete all objectives without breaking a sweat. If you face Shriekers out in the open, here are the strategies you should consider using to take them down:
- Use any primary automatic weapon to target their wing flaps or heads. If you hit weak points, the Shrieker will fall after one or two shots. It's essential to shoot precisely before they can glide in and kill you with their lethal attacks.
- Destroy Shrieker nests as soon as you land by using the new Quasar Laser Cannon, Expendable Anti Tank or Recoilless Rifle from distance. It will significantly reduce their number over time.
- Use the Eagle 500 KG bomb, SEAF Artillery Mini Nuke Shells and hellbomb to wipe out Shrieker nests in an instant. However, getting too close to a Shrieker is something we strongly recommend against, as they become extremely aggressive once they spot you.
- Try using an arc thrower to eliminate hordes of Shriekers at once, as eliminating Shriekers one by one is really hard to do.
Aside from these strategies, try not to engage Shriekers standing out in the open. Once a Shrieker notices you, Bile Spewers, Chargers, Bile Titans, and normal Terminids will swarm your position quickly. So, as soon as you see Shriekers in the air, plan accordingly, destroy their nest, and remember to use your ammo count efficiently.
