Assassin's Creed Valhalla is finally here and we've been enjoying the game for the last couple of days with one minor annoyance. Yes, those "fire crackling" messages that appear on your screen. Here's how to turn them off.

If you have been playing Ubisoft's brand new Viking-themed action-adventure Assassin's Creed Valhalla you've probably encountered messages such as "fire crackling" or "box destroyed" on your screen. These can be quite unnecessary if you love your HUD clean and with minimum info.

If you tried to turn them off, you probably spent some time in the menus since the game does not explain what these are and how to toggle them on or off, at least we did not notice such notification on our screen.

Luckily, the option is there in the menus and if you're looking to remove these messages here are the steps to do so:

  1. Go to the Main Menu of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
  2. Select the Options and choose the Sounds tab
  3. Scroll down until you see the Subtitles & Closed Captions section
  4. Under this section, you can disable the subtitles and captions in the game

So there you have it, not that hard, right? With Closed Captions set to off, you won't get those messages again, unless you switch the option back on. If you're looking to turn off other HUD elements too, you'll find most of the options under Interface tab.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is out now for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
