Borderlands 3 marketing campaign is in full swing with Gearbox appearing at GuardianCon to promote the game further and announce a few features. One of them is the return of duelling and the other is a quality of life one - pinging.

Duelling in Borderlands series has always been a thing but it may lose some value with Borderlands 3. Players used to duel at times in order to decide who gets the loot with the winner taking the spoils but since the third (fourth?) main series instalment will feature dedicated loot.

Still, the feature will come back and players can either have a sparring match to see whose build, skill or combination of both is better or just go all out in a four-way free-for-all. It's like a group's own tiny battle royale.

Anyway, the other feature that was presented is the pinging system. Apex Legends certainly brought a lot of attention to this quality of life feature with its surge of success in February 2019.

As you can imagine, the system works in a similar way. Players will have a dedicated ping button that will send out various feedback messages to teammates, depending on what was pinged. This is particularly useful for players that don't use voice comms in groups, allowing them to call out all the important things without uttering a word.

The video below shows different call-outs for enemies, loot, environmental hazards and even Claptrap who is stuck on a giant magnet. Again. It will be interesting to see if we get to ping stairs and giggle about the tiny robot's inability to climb them.

There was some more chatter about the ECHOcast Twitch extension that will let fans earn loot by watching streamers play Borderlands 3. It remains to be seen what the people will enjoy more in order to get loot - watching streamers or wrecking various raiders, robots, mutants and other colourful flora and fauna of Pandora and even a few new planets.
