If you're still on the fence whether to get into Sea of Thieves or not, then we've got some good news - Rare and Microsoft have kicked off the Friends Play Free campaign that lets existing players invite three friends for a free week.
Rare's offer is actually on the table from 06 to 13 February 2019, so it's actually eight days but a free week worked better for headline purposes. You can always check the timer on Sea of Thieves' website, which will let you know how much time is left.
Friends Play Free is available to anyone who's part of the Sea of Thieves "Insider Programme and owns a physical or digital copy of Sea of Thieves (or has obtained the game through Game Pass)". All you need to do is log into the Friends Play Free section and pick up the codes.
Sea of Thieves has been staging a resurgence of sorts lately, as the game's popularity is once again making headlines, so we're inclined to agree with Rare on this - it's probably the best time to get into the game.
Many popular streamers seem to think so too, as their renewed interest in the game resulted in Sea of Thieves ending January 2019 as one of the top 10 most watched Twitch games, with as 15.27 million hours of viewing time.
Sea of Thieves endured its fair share of criticism over the perceived lack of content at launch, even though Rare have been pretty straightforward with their plans to launch an almost bare-bones experience, which will be polished and added to as they go along.
Now, however, the game is in pretty good shape and even the most singlest of players will surely find a way to spend some quality time on the treacherous seas of Sea of Thieves.
Rare have recently announced a new update that's due today, which will shrink the game's footprint by as much as 20GB, which means you won't need to download 47GB but only 27GB.
