CD Projekt Red have shown a gameplay demo of Cyberpunk 2077 to wide audience on 27 August 2018. It's an understatement to say the demo was highly anticipated as it went on to break all kinds of records on Twitch while being streamed.

Cyberpunk 2077 stream peaked at around 288.000 viewers on its peak, but that number goes up to 459.000 if you count in re-streams according to GitHyp. That's almost half a million concurrent viewers, which is still not as big as Ninja's stream with Drake but it is by far the biggest stream related to announcing games or showing them as they launched.

For comparison, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 first look had 204.000 concurrent viewers, Sea of Thieves upped the ante with 259.000 and God of War ruled them all until now, with what now seems to be meager - 283.000 concurrent viewers. That's about 61,7 per cent of what Cyberpunk 2077's first look achieved, so the latter almost doubled the concurrent viewer record.

As it stands now, Red Dead Redemption 2 might be looking to top this record by the time it gets released but Rockstar Games have technically already revealed its gameplay so one might argue that opportunity has gone out of the window.

Another noteworthy statistic is that the VoD of the stream has over 100.000 views, just one day after the reveal, even though there is a YouTube version that can be watched in 4K. The video is embedded above if you want to give it a glimpse or a replay run. On the topic of the YouTube video, Cyberpunk 2077 snatched 3.4 million views in 24 hours on its own. The number goes Goes up to 4.8 million if you count in the fact that GameSpot re-posted the same video just an hour later and took 1.4 million views in the first 24 hours.

If these numbers are any indicator of the viewers' hype, CD Projekt Red should be swimming in money once they release Cyberpunk 2077. On that note, they have also announced the release date today.
