Nintendo's E3 appearance was notable for quite a few things this year, including Team17's announcement of the chaotic cooking simulator Overcooked 2, which launches on 07 August 2018 for Switch, Steam, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms.

You've got to check this story out - the Onion Kingdom is in peril, because the Onion King has read aloud from the Necronomnomicon. Read that again, because you've probably missed it.

His unholy deeds resulted in creation of the unholy undead bread, or as they're better know, the Unbread. As you can imagine, they've got quite the appetite, being unbread and all, so you have to cook your way out of the situation.

Overcooked 2 takes cooking to a whole new level, sometimes quite literally, as you can see from the trailer. Team17 threw in a bunch of themes, such as sushi restaurants, magic schools and even alien planets. What's a game without alien cooking, eh?

The game has a bunch of new recipes, which you'll be learning in your travels. You'll be running around or even teleporting around dynamic kitchens across the kingdom, with portals and moving walkways aplenty.

There's a host of new chefs as well, "including an eagle, mouse beaver and what kitchen is complete without an octopus!". We wholeheartedly agree Team17.

A notable improvement from the original game, Overcooked 2 adds a new mechanic - throwing. You can now toss ingredients right into the pan or play some catch-the-produce with your friends, which is sure to add another level of mastery to the game. Ninja chef friends? But of course.

Speaking of friends, Overcooked 2 offers singleplayer as well as local and online multiplayer, allowing co-op of up to four players. Also, as you or your merry band of cooksters progress through the map, you'll be opening other challenges.

Note that Overcooked was joint developed by Ghost Town Games and Team17, where the latter is probably best known for the Worms franchise. Obviously, they still know how to drive the cuteness factor through the roof.
