Being one of the titles launching with Xbox Series X, Yakuza: Like a Dragon will feature a bunch of optimisations for Microsoft's next-gen console, all of which are geared for optimum performance.
In an interview with Xbox Wire, Yakuza series chief producer Masayoshi Yokoyama, who shared some of the things the dev team found useful in regards to the game.
"Being able to develop Yakuza: Like a Dragon on Xbox Series X gave us an opportunity to develop the game at a much higher performance level than we’ve ever been able to achieve before. Seeing the game run at a smooth 60 FPS gameplay experience or in native 4K with near-instant load times is incredible", he said.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon's arrival on Xbox was just in time for Microsoft's Smart Delivery tech, which allows for optimised versions of the game across console generations, something Xbox One users should be particularly thankful for.
Yokoyama mentioned that the focus was on increasing the resolution to "show off the intricate details", as well as providing higher yet more stable framerates to improve the experience further.
Nevertheless, he's been most impressed with the reduction in loading times, courtesy of Xbox Series X's ultra-fast SSD. In fact, Yokoyama says there's literally no time to read the loading screen tips, as the process is nearly instantaneous.
While developing games is never as easy as it sounds/looks, developing Yakuza: Like a Dragon was a much more relaxed affair thanks to Xbox Series X's power under the hood.
"The hardware was easy to develop on, it’s incredible to develop on a platform that’s as powerful as a high-spec gaming PC" he said.
