Complex Games and Frontier Foundry revealed more details about Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters and one of the details is that you can dismember enemies to disable them.
Warhammer 40,000 universe is all about perpetual combat, despair and is generally bleak. In such a setting, no tactic is "going too far" if it means beating the other side and the latest dev diary for Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters shines a spotlight on that particular topic.
Dismembering enemies is a gruesome thing but in Daemonhunters, it is a way towards victory as your Grey Knights will be able to target specific parts of the body on enemies, allowing them to disable certain abilities or hamper their ways to inflict damage.
This body part targeting system weaves into the combat rules for Grey Knights, who are generally happy to engage in close quarters combat, which is also one of the reasons why two of the four shown classes are focused on dishing out melee damage.
Besides being able to disable body parts, Grey Knights will be able to finish Nurgle's minions off in cinematic fashion, provided they stun them first. Considering the brutality of W40K games, it's safe to expect explosions of cinematic blood and gore.
The trailer below features even more details about the upgrades for the players' squad and the backstory of Daemonhunters, showing the ambitious Inquisitor who may end up having mechanics of her own. It's hinted she could turn into an enemy eventually but that her status could depend on our actions.
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters is scheduled for release on May 5, 2022, via Steam and Epic Games Store.
