Riot Games are teasing a new game mode for Valorant, which should be revealed in full soon, and the players are already terrified of its potential implications.
Video games that feature character abilities often have a game mode that allows spamming said abilities. Destiny 2 has Mayhem and Overwatch has Total Mayhem. Now it looks like Valorant will have Replication.
According to the teasers posted by the devs, Replication will allow players to use abilities much more often than before and apparently in quick succession. For example, Brimstone can drop three smokes usually but the first teaser showed 11 of them dropping simultaneously .
Similarly, the second teaser shows Skye flashing the player, who regains sight shortly afterwards, only to see her charging with an entire pack of wolves. It is currently unknown how this will work, with her trying to control all those predators and everything.
Given the name of the mode and the fact that both teasers showed agents using multiple copies of their abilities at once, it's possible the mechanics will differ from the aforementioned Mayhem modes in other games.
It looks like an ability will simply be multiplied into several copies of itself but it still won't be spammable. In hindsight, it makes a lot of sense because just spamming abilities would be detrimental to any possible game mode - no one would see anything due to the flash spam and abilities like Raze's bots would be the only ones getting the kills.
That said, it will be funny if Boom Bots can be replicated and we can sic a small army of them at the enemy.
