Nintendo Switch continues to dominate the video games sales charts in the UK, with its hit island management game Animal Crossing: New Horizons sitting comfortably on the 1st place.
January is a quiet month by default when it comes to new releases. The only notable release in January is Hitman 3, launching later this month. Almost everyone is still on vacation or forced to work from home, due to the COVID19 situation, which can be the reason for the increase of games sold in the first week of 2021, compared to the last year, with Switch stealing the show.
In the first week of 2021, over 260.000 physical games were sold in the UK. Nintendo Switch is still dominating top charts, with an increase of 126% games sold compared to this time last year. In fact, there are 15 Switch exclusives in the Top 40 this week.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons holds onto the top spot, followed by Mario Kart 8: Deluxe at No.2, and Just Dance 2021 at No.3
Just Dance 2021 is available across all platforms, but almost 90% of the game's sales so far are coming from Nintendo Switch (physical sales only).
CDPR's Cyberpunk 2077 is nowhere near the Top 10 list, as it fell down to the 20th place, after a 59% sales drop.
