Developed by Crystal Dynamics, Tomb Raider (2013) has now broken its all-time peak player record (29,197) it's held since launch back in March 2013. The new all-time peak player number is 89,494. The new record is in large part thanks to the recent game giveaway.

Square Enix' Tomb Raider has broken its all-time peak players record several times over thanks to the recent giveaway on Steam and COVID-19 self-isolation practice.

Steam Charts now has the 2013 game in its top ten Top Games by current players, and Tomb Raider found itself in the company of such titles like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Grand Theft Auto V. With 89,494 players at its peak, Tomb Raider has had a +735.44 per cent gain in players during the last 30 days.

When Tomb Raider arrived onto Steam in March of 2013, its peak players count went up only to 29,197. The game has steadily had a couple of thousand players each month since launch.

Tomb Raider (2013) was the tenth title in the franchise. It served as a reboot that rebuilt the origins of its heroine Lara Croft. Tomb Raider: Legend was the first title to re-establish Croft's story back in 2006.

Tomb Raider is set on the island of Yamatai from which a young and still inexperienced Lara must save her friends form an evil cult. The gameplay elements of the title are more focused on survival but the franchise's trademark exploration is still present.

Tomb Raider is the first game in the main series to include a multiplayer element. The multiplayer option remains a feature tied only to this title.

The 2018 Tomb Raider reboot film adaptation was directed by Roar Uthaug and starred Alicia Vikander in the titular role. The movie's plot focuses on Lara Croft's search for her father.
