Naughty Dog have finally revealed the release date for their action-adventure The Last of Us Part 2. Just like rumours suggested, the game is coming on 21 February 2019.
After many leaks and rumours, we finally have the release date for the upcoming horror action-adventure The Last of Us Part 2. Naughty Dog and Sony officially revealed the release date on last night's State of Play live stream along with a new trailer. The Last of Us Part 2 is coming on 21 February 2020.
The game had one of the biggest presentations in the State of Play live stream. For those who are unfamiliar with Sony's new show, State of Play is basically the place where the publisher reveals new trailer, gameplay, announcements and obviously, release dates.
Like we already mentioned, The Last of Us Part 2 got a new trailer showcasing the story, gameplay, enemies and combat. The trailer also brings a huge surprise - a fan favourite character Joel made his first appearance. If you're thinking that he could be just Ellie's hallucination, well, see for yourself, he's clearly aged and to us, it looks like the team is back for yet another adventure.
Naughty Dog and Sony only revealed the release date for the current generation console - PlayStation 4 - and there was no mention of the next-gen hardware. It's expected that The Last of Us Part 2 also arrives to the next-gen console just like its predecessor, which was initially released on PlayStation 3 but after the release of the new console, the game also launched on PlayStation 4 in an enhanced version with much better graphics.
Possibly, The Last of Us Part 2 on PS5 could also bring similar improvements and potentially new content but there's a long way to go and the game first needs to release on PlayStation 4. Everything we say now would be just speculation so let's wait for the official announcements and see what exactly Naughty Dog and Sony have in store.
