The fact that The Last of Us will be seven years old in June 2020 clearly didn't matter, as everyone still recalls being blown off the couch. How everyone rationalised it to themselves afterwards doesn't matter - Naughty Dog's title was exquisite in every respect, as evidenced by reaping 11 per cent of all votes.
"Thanks to all of the PlayStation fans that voted for The Last of Us as Game of the Decade! Your love for these characters and their stories means the world to us", the dev tweeted.
An even more personal message comes from Neil Druckmann, one of the directors, who tweeted, "Here's the deal... y'all keep being amazing fans and we'll keep working hard to create great games that make you proud."
God of War is an unavoidable title in this list, and it's quite fitting to see it come in second. We only wish we could vote for best game directors because we'll never forget Cory Barlog after seeing the reviews. And we love him for being such a genuine human being. Okay, we'll stop fanboying now.
The Witcher's recent resurgence is clearly no fluke, as PlayStation fans voted The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in third place. It's followed by two of Rockstar's blockbusters - Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2.
