The Expanse: Osiris Reborn has been shown off again with a new gameplay showcase at Gamescom 2026. This time Owlcat Games provided a look at one of the missions players can tackle mid-way through the game. Ganymede is the backdrop for two new videos released during Gamescom’s Game Show.
The gameplay footage details several aspects of the action RPG coming later this year. Cinematic storytelling, combat, exploration and even its dialogue system are on display as what was meant to be a simple mission evolves into a battle for survival.
Captain and their sister J take on an infiltration mission to recover stolen data from a secret Protogen facility on Ganymede. Their mission is derailed however when a third party shows up out of nowhere and a bioengineered monster is unleashed inside the base.
Captain and J must sneak into a secret Protogen facility to recover stolen data obtained from Pinkwater Station. Early game sequences focus on stealth, exploration, and speaking to various Protogen employees. At times you’ll need to find creative ways to enter restricted areas to progress through the mission.
Players can learn more about the individual crew members too. The Captain’s team back them up by providing technical support and covering their siblings’ backs.
During the mission, both stealth and dialogue are used to reach the storage facility without issue. Unfortunately, everything goes sideways once an unknown third party shows up at the front gates. Players are shown how everything can change in an instant as they make their way through the facility.
Not only will players be able to explore the nooks and crannies of the world, but they’ll have meaningful conversations, make choices that matter, and engage in action sequences. It won’t simply be a case of moving from fight to fight.
Stealth and platforming are utilized during the mission as players try to sneak into the storage facility unnoticed. However, things don’t go as planned and the duo must fight their way out of the base.
The Ganymede mission featured in The Expanse: Osiris Reborn’s new gameplay footage proves that point wonderfully. The mission that should have been a cakewalk quickly evolves into all-out action once the brothers and sisters have to flee for their lives.
