BioWare already announced they would be dipping into the battle pass monetisation model with Star Wars: The Old Republic and it is now on the players' doorstep.

SWTOR update 6.3 is scheduled for April 27, 2021, from 6:00 to 9:00 AM PDT or 1:00 to 4:00 PM UTC. When the maintenance concludes, the players will get to enjoy the game with several additions, one of them being the Galactic Seasons, which is just another name for the seasonal battle pass system that was originally popularized by Fortnite.

These seasons are going to last about five months each and players will be able to go through 100 levels of the reward track, which will have two sections - free and premium tracks. Just like with every battle pass in existence so far, the premium track rewards are paid for and SWTOR's premium track payment will go through the dreaded subscription that fails to work for numerous players who attempt to use it.

One good thing about the pass is that all your progress is retroactive when it comes to the premium track. If you played for free and got to level 90 in the free track, as soon as you become a subscriber, you will gain access to all the rewards up to level 90 from the premium track.

Progress through the battle pass will be made by completing various challenges so keep an eye out for those new prompts in the UI.
