Capcom are offering a free trial for potential future Street Fighter V Champion Edition players that will run for a week. It brings back memories of times when demos allowed us to preview games before committing to full purchase.
Street Fighter V Champion Edition is coming to PlayStation 4 and PC on 14 February 2020 and will be the all-in-one package for Cpacom's title. It will include all the cosmetics and fighters thus far at half a AAA title's price but is also bound to piss off the players who spent a ton of money via microtransactions.
However, such players are bound to be outnumbered by both the new players who are looking to get the whole package with low entry barrier and those who were on the fence about purchasing SFV. The latter group will probably be coerced through the free trial that went live on 3 February 2020 and will go on until 9 February 2020.
That is enough time for a player to judge whether the fighting game is for them as all the content will be available. This includes the 39 fighters that are present in the game, including Gill, the latest re-addition.
Keep in mind that Seth will also make an appearance soon, which will bring the fighter count to 40. The Street Fighter IV boss will make an appearance in a different body this time around and will be released on the same day as the Champion Edition. Therefore, this one will be available to the players who go along with purchasing the game but will not be available during the free trial.
While this is not exactly the type of demo that was available in the days of yore, free trials ahead of releases are definitely something that should return. Two hours of gameplay are seldom enough to decide whether players truly want to add it to their library.
