The new Overlord expansion for Stellaris on PC is, at the very least, exciting. However, with the focus Paradox are now putting on consoles, when can we expect it to get there as well?

In 2023, Paradox are bringing Overlord to Console Edition! Overlord brings:

  • Three new Megastructures,
  • Three new Enclaves,
  • Enhanced Vassalization Contracts,
  • Specialty Subject types,
  • Anew Ascension Perk,
  • Five new Origins.

The developers have currently targeted early 2023 for Overlord’s release. Tantalus has not started working on this version yet, so there is no estimation for when they will be starting development diaries for this version.

Overlord on Console will also be paired with two free updates: 3.3 “Libra” and 3.4 “Cepheus”.

The 3.3 “Libra” update adds a complete rework to how Unity is used in Stellaris. Unity will be used for internal Empire management, and Influence for external actions. It also adds the Permanent Employment Civic for owners of MegaCorp and the Necroids Species Pack, as well as new archaeology sites, and new anomalies.

The 3.4 “Cepheus” update adds the new Situations system, a progression-based narrative system, that is used for resource deficits, planetary revolts, machine uprisings, and some story events. While also containing changes to how Subjugation works, including Subject Contracts, Holdings, and Quality of Life improvements.

Also included in 3.4 “Cepheus” are changes to the military AI, Quality of Life improvements for auto-resettlement, and improvements to sector and planetary automation.

It will be an exciting year for the console edition of Stellaris, having it catch up quickly to the PC version.
