Steam posted their traditional report on best-performing titles in the following categories - Top Sellers, Top New Releases, Top Selling VR Games, Top Early Access Graduates and Most Played Games. As you'd expect, there were a few surprises.
GabeN and Co do not disclose exact figures for obvious reasons, but Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze categories are more than enough to see the changes in Steam's elite guard.
Unsurprisingly, Destiny 2 is in the Top Sellers' Platinum category after becoming the biggest Steam launch of 2019. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Total War Three Kingdoms also made the list, whereas Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, Far Cry 5 and Rocket League dropped into the Gold category.
The rest of the Platinum club is unchanged from 2018 and features the usual suspects: PUBG, Warframe, GTA Dota 2, CS: GO, The Elder Scrolls Online, Civilization VI and Rainbow 6 Siege.
Red Dead Redemption 2 didn't make the elite and instead had to settle for Silver. However, knowing it launched on Steam on 5 December 2019, this is pretty great, as confirmed by hitting Platinum for Top New Releases.
The rest of the Top Releases list is as follows: Destiny 2, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Remnant: From the Ashes, Resident Evil 2, Code Vein, Planet Zoo, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Mordhau and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Team Fortress 2 and Monster Hunter: World dropped down into the 50K category, but the biggest change is Realm Royale. Hi-Rez's battle royale went from being in the elite 100K club in 2018 to not being featured on the 2019 list at all.
