Knowing just how protective Disney is of their intellectual property, quite rightfully so in today's climate, this is a huge compliment to Respawn and the gaming industry itself. The license to "get creative" with some of their iconic franchises indeed say a lot.
Granted, Insomniac Studios' Spider-Man played a big role in Disney's decision, as it too raked in some serious dough to all three parties involved. If you wanted to be nitpicky, the fact that it was a PS4 exclusive makes its feat even more impressive but back to the matter at hand.
As reported by DualShockers, a new Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is already in the pipeline, although we're most likely talking about the drawing-board stage thereof.
Respawn's game made such a splash that it almost entirely washed away the bitterness of Battlefront 2's monetary aspirations. This time, however, Respawn helped them achieve both, while proving wrong their claims of single-player games being a thing of the past.
The same report claims that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2, or whatever it ends up being called, isn't the only Star Wars-based game in EA's current production though. In fact, the report claims it's a "smaller, more unusual project" that will be handled by Motive Studios.
While we're certainly delighted that Disney are enjoying Respawn's work - let's face it, who doesn't - it's a bit ironic that a gaming company produces more original, creative and engaging content based on Disney's own IP.
