Respawn's upcoming action-adventure Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be very similar to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in terms of combat mechanics. According to Respawn's Jason de Heras, Fallen Order will offer a lot of freedom during combat.

Respawn Entertainment have been pretty quiet about their upcoming action-adventure Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Since the official gameplay reveal at E3 2019, we only got some tiny bits of info about the game.

It's possible that the devs are still working on some of the core features, which are subject to change as the development inches closer to completion, hence the reason for the radio silence.

However, today, we have some new details about the game's combat and what exactly can players expect once they start charging at the opponents with their lightsaber.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Lead Combat Designer, Jason de Heras talked about the combat mechanics in his latest interview and apparently, Fallen Order will be very similar to FromSoftware's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

He said that the team liked how Sekiro gave a lot of freedom to players without punishing them with a stamina bar. "I thought it was pretty badass, and a little comforting to know that you could make this type of game without a stamina bar. They let you attack, they let you roll, they do all this for free – and then the AI will tell you if you’re doing the correct thing," he explained.

Apparently, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order aims to give players the same amount of freedom. "It just confirmed to us that you don’t have to limit everything the player does; let them have a little more agency, and then let the AI give them a slap on the wrist or a punch in the face," de Heras explained and added that this is indeed very similar to how Fallen Order works. "It was a positive thing for us to know there was a game that was similar to ours. Very similar."

Fallen Order Game Director Stig Asmussen also added that he's been a huge FromSoftware fan since their early days. However, he says that it's not about creating that game yourself as he would rather learn from these games and take the best they have to offer.

We assume that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order won't be as tough as FromSoftware's Sekiro, but it will be interesting to see just how deep these combat similarities will actually run.
