Sonic Mania is the new Sonic adventure that features original zones and fully re-imagined classics. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Sonic Mania was developed by Christian Whitehead, Headcannon, and PagodaWest Games in collaboration with Sega of America. The game is supposed to celebrate "the best of Classic Sonic, pushing the envelope forward with stunning 60 FPS gameplay and pixel-perfect physics".
Sonic Mania can be played as Sonic (surprise), Tails and Knuckles. Sonic's drop dash ability will make an appearance in Sonic Mania and the upcoming Sonic Forces. The latter still has no release date, but a time frame to keep an eye on is the end of this year. Tails' ability is flight and Knuckles' is climbing. The big bad of Sonic Mania will be Dr. Eggman and his robots.
The press release also speaks of a "myriad of never-before-seen hidden paths and secrets". Oh and there's the split-screen option.
