EA's skate receives its second major season update on December 2nd, introducing co-op via the new Own the Lot mode along with new skateable rooftops, party voice chat, replay editor improvements, and 25 new soundtrack additions.

EA's skate reboot is getting its second substantial content drop on December 2nd, and it's bringing the one feature players have been screaming for since launch: actual co-operative gameplay. Season 2 introduces Own the Lot, a squad-based game mode lifting inspiration from classic Tony Hawk's series challenges, alongside visual upgrades, new skateable areas, and expanded social features.

Proper Co-Op Mode

Own the Lot supports up to four players tackling shared objectives against the clock. Complete criteria, which include gaps, tricks, combos, whatever the challenge demands, to increase your completion tier and unlock bigger rewards.

Party voice chat

Party voice chat is finally coming, letting you communicate in-game without relying on Discord or console party systems. The new Beacons system via the Comms Wheel also helps players find and join parties, which is a welcomed quality-of-life improvements that feel overdue but welcome nonetheless.

These additions suggest EA heard feedback about skate's launch social systems feeling barebones compared to competitors. Better late than never, though one can't help wondering why foundational multiplayer features launched post-release rather than day one.

Replay Editor Gets Better

Advanced Editor Mode transforms the replay system with keyframe animation, enhanced trimming tools, and expanded camera controls including roll, tilt, and offset adjustments. For content creators obsessed with capturing the perfect line, these tools are genuinely substantial upgrades rather than superficial tweaks.

Screenshot four demonstrates the interface, showing detailed camera positioning and timeline controls that wouldn't look out of place in professional video editing software. Whether casual players care is debatable, but the skateboarding content creation community will absolutely embrace these additions.

Visual Polish and New Spots

Season 2 delivers San Vansterdam's second visual pass alongside the game's first character model improvements. Updated lighting, sharper environmental details, and more dynamic pedestrians aim to make the city feel considerably more alive. Three new hairstyles and two facial hair options expand customisation, though that's hardly revolutionary.

More importantly, four new skateable areas join the map: Casper Hotel Rooftop, Road Tunnel, Building Roof Patio, and Canal Buildings. These locations persist after Season 2 ends, permanently expanding San Van's geography rather than serving as temporary seasonal content, which is exactly how live-service skateparks should function.
