According to a North American PR representative for Konami, reported Silent Hill reboot by SIE Japan Studio with Toyama, Ito, and Yamaoka on board is not happening and all rumours surrounding the game are not true.
You probably heard about Silent Hill Reboot Reboot rumours which surfaced all over Reddit and gaming forums recently. The rumour suggested that Konami have been looking for development teams to continue the Silent Hill franchise with Masahiro Ito on the helm and Sony as the driving force behind the reboot.
However, according to the latest report from a website Relyonhorror , these rumours are not true and have been shut down directly by Konami PR. In the report, they state that a North American PR representative for Konami has said that they are aware of the rumours, which are completely inaccurate, sadly.
"We’re aware of all the rumours and reports but can confirm that they are not true. I know it’s not the answer your fans may want to hear," Konami US PR said.
Konami rep also clarified that the publisher are not putting the franchise to rest for good, they simply do not have plans for it for the time being. "It’s not to say we are completely closing the door on the franchise, just not in the way it is being reported," Konami rep confirmed.
It is a bit unusual that Konami have come out with such a strong "no". Publishers usually respond with a simple "no comment" on rumours but it appears that Konami want to put the rumour to bed before fans start believing that the game is in the works.
All in all, the confirmation will certainly come as a big disappointment to many but to be fair, the rumour did sound too good to be true in the first place. Lesson learned.
