Much has been said about Sea of Thieves' immediate post-launch content, or lack thereof, but it seems that even the worst nonbelievers are getting onboard for the upcoming anniversary update, which adds the Arena, Tall Tales mode and more.
Sea of Thieves' anniversary update is slated for 30 April 2019, and Rare will have a series of streams detailing each of the update's new features.
And when it comes to features, Rare made sure that the update caters to those that like rich stories equally as much as to those that are craving for better PvP.
"Tall Tales are a collection of story-rich quests that are played out in our shared world and can be fully experienced by yourself or with your crew. This first collection, Shores of Gold, invites you to embark on an epic adventure of love, honour and betrayal in search of the mythical Shores of Gold", Rare wrote.
It isn't just a patchworked bunch of quests either - it's the developer's construct that will allow for much easier storytelling, with unique mechanics, and Tall Tales is just the beginning.
Apparently, Shores of Gold are the biggest location created for Sea fo Thieves yet, almost five times the size of the biggest island. Moreover, even if you start it with a team, you're still likely to have a unique adventure, thanks to some procedural elements.
Sea of Thieves' Arena, on the other hand, is a PvP mode that has five crews duking it out across a compact version of the Adventure map, trying to get the treasure before the other guys.
Rare actually made sure that pretty much every activity brings you additional coin, from barraging the enemies with cannonballs, to stealing their gold, but you should know that the likes of Kraken and Megalodon are not in the Arena.
Last but not least is The Hunter's Call, Sea of Thieves' new trading company that will give players more ways to play. Rare will be showing The Hunter's Call in more detail on Tuesday, 16 2019 at 5pm BST / 9am PT.
There are some rewards for Sea of Thieves veterans too, which you can check out here .
