Relic Entertainment are making great progress on Age of Empires IV according to the latest blog post from Xbox. The devs are playing and testing the game daily.
Age of Empires IV is one of the most anticipated strategy games that should be coming sometime in late 2021 or early 2022, according to rumours. Sadly, the details about the game are pretty scarce since the developer Relic did not really share much about the game over the last months.
Luckily, the project is still pretty much underway and it's making great progress, according to the latest blog post on the official Age of Empires website. Here's the important bit from the update:
"We are making great progress on Age of Empires IV. I don’t want to make you jealous, but we are literally playing this game every single day—both in Washington and in Vancouver.
RTS development is funny: it takes a while to build the separate systems (AI, economy, sim, rendering, etc), and then it takes a while for them to come together. But when they do, you suddenly have a game—a game that needs debugging and balance and polish— but the core of the game that you know you’re going to ship. And the best part is that it feels like an Age of Empires game."
There's no mention of a target release window, though, but the team do promise a lot more updates very soon so hopefully, we'll see some gameplay and also get additional details regarding the release of the game.
Age of Empires IV is in development for PC.
