Suppressors in Rainbow Six Siege have suffered for a very long time with a modifier that makes no sense. With the next season, these attachments will be brought up to par with others.
One of the most common misconceptions in video gaming is that attaching a suppressor to a firearm will somehow decrease the muzzle velocity of its projectiles. In reality, they cause the opposite - an increase, albeit very small, which can improve the accuracy and technically, the stopping power of a weapon.
Rainbow Six Siege is one of the games that got this completely wrong and attaching a suppressor would decrease your weapon's damage. With Operation Brutal Swarm, this nonsensical modifier will be removed and suppressed guns will retain their firepower.
In other words, suppressors will no longer be trash tier and this change might actually propel them to become the top choice of barrel attachments.
Reducing the volume of firing your weapon could potentially be a game changer, especially if you are shooting at the same time as someone with an unsuppressed weapon as the enemies will lack proper intel on your position.
While the biggest, this is not the only change when it comes to weapon attachments. Muzzle brakes and flash hiders will be available on all weapons while extended barrels, vertical and angled grips will be available on more weapons.
Meanwhile, scope availability will be different for some weapons so the meta is highly likely to shake up once the new season arrives.
