The coming update for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will be host to a test run for the game's cosmetics system. The cosmetic items will be coming in crates, because how else.

The crates will come in 3 types, Wanderer, Survivor and Gamescom Invitational - all inspired by fashion from the Battle Royale movie. The third of the three is event specific for the invitational tournament taking place during next months Gamescom. Unlocking those particular crates will cost about £2 a pop.
The tournament itself will be taking place during Gamescom in Cologne in late August. 80 of the most skilled and prominent players will be competing in Solo, Duo, and Squad mode as well as Duo first-person mode - best out of three style.

A part from the cosmetic crate's earnings will be going into the $350,000 prize pool, with the rest reserved for organising the event and a number of charities.
Here are the updates that will be added to the game scheduled for 3 August 2017:
- 1st Person server options are coming to NA and EU SOLO & DUO game-modes
- FOV Slider for the 1st person view will be added to the game
- A new rifle will be added to the game
