Having been nothing but a concept up until its Early Access launch on 23 March 2017, PUBG has really come a long way and to mark its first birthday, Brendan Greene and co are giving away PUBG anniversary weapon skins to all who log in.
The skin in question is called the Year One - SCAR-L and, as you can see, it's the regular SCAR with a dash of yellow. There's also the #1 sign next to the handle, as well as the 'Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner' phrase.
The skin is available to anyone who logs into PUBG by 01 May 2018. This of course means not many players, just a few measly millions. Note that the remaining pictures are not free, but rather came as part of the .
The devs say the weapon skin is "neither tradable nor destructible", so you needn't worry about losing it or anything. After all - everyone is getting one. Doesn't that make you feel special?
Of course, we're happy for Brendan and PUBG and we have no doubt we'll be hearing about both of 'em much more, but we can't help but wonder when we'll see some useful changes.
To be fair, the latest PUBG performance update and the game runs noticeably better but cheating is still rampant. In fact, there doesn't seem to be a blog post that has Brendan Greene in it, without the comment section being filled with "REGION LOCK CHINA" requests.

Naturally, PUBG Corp is very careful and often coy with the issue, seeing as how the Chinese gaming market is a gift that keeps on giving. In fact, their latest announcement talks about secret servers that would be invisible to people from other regions, unless you've been specifically invited by someone - that's how careful they are.
Strangely enough, PUBG Corp says that ping-based matchmaking has been a success, which is completely at odds with the secret servers thing.
So tell us PUBG Corp, is it a success or do we need secret servers? Here's a wild idea - how about you give us more skins and cosmetic items and we forget about the entire thing?
