PUBG has a new patch on the test servers. Players will be able to choose which map they want to play in the future. The in-game report button now also works. Both of these things should have been in the game in the first place maybe?
Greetings, PUBG fans. Today I have some of the last pieces of news to come out for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds before the game leaves early access to be not finished in the real world. That will happen on 20 December.
First up, the dev team is changing their stance on the whole "the maps will be selected randomly as your match begins" issue. The original idea, according to the announcement, was: "this is Battle Royale and players should be able to survive in any environment. This is why weather was made to be random together with which map is being played on."
Player feedback quickly killed the idea using a frying pan, as people apparently enjoy their freedom of choice. In the future, players will be able to choose which map they would rather loose in next. This decision will bring some issues including, but not limited to: queueing times could be extremely lengthy, matches may not start at all, matches may start with a number of players that is much lower than 100 in off-peak times.
Since the team needs some time to address the aforementioned issues, the option to choose your preferred map will not be selectable right after PC 1.0 release.
The team will be adding a solo FPP mode to OCE and SA servers next week. However, if there is less than 1 session per 2 hours on average after the map selection feature is added, the less popular FPP mode may be closed.
Also, a ping lock feature is in development: "Alongside other measures we will be implementing, we are now also looking into implementing ping lock to help with server lag and other stability issues. We are in the process of developing this feature and it will be tested in a single region at first. We will keep you updated on our progress."
