Psychonauts 2's trailer has finally landed and it shows Razputin zipping around and getting into trouble, as usual. It also confirms the 2019 launch, which means that Double Fine are not affected by the trouble over at Starbreeze Studios.

The trailer is narrated by agent Cruller - the Einstein-looking fellow that didn't bother to make sense much in the original Psychonauts. He does well to sum up Razputin's upcoming adventure though, albeit with a few memory, ahem, stutters.

Psychonauts 2 picks up after the events of Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin rather than the original. Raz, a full-fledged Psychonaut, goes back to headquarters, only to realise the organisation has a wildly different focus now - necromancy.

The mole that infiltrated Psychonauts is trying to bring the most powerful psychic villains back from the dead and Raz, of course, will be trying to prevent this. Double Fine have shown the Motherlobe as well, which should be at the centre of the trouble.

Razputing's journey goes a bit deeper though, as Double Fine said they'll be visiting many themes they missed before. "Not knowing who to trust, Raz must dive into the history of the Psychonauts, and that of his own family, to fight the demons of their shared past", the company wrote.

In case you're not familiar with Psychonauts, you should be since it's one of the industry's truly romantic stories. Initial sales of Tim Schafer's quirky platformer suggested it's an utter flop but the game kept selling at a steady pace and built quite a following since.

Psychonauts 2's trailer shows the team brought back the original formula, which is plenty of action and just as much weirdness. Hopefully, it does enough to wash away the taste of Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin, which looked more like a glorified VR gimmick than a sequel.

Psychonauts 2 was initially planned to launch in 2018, but those plans and so Double Fine moved it to 2019. It seems that the trouble at won't affect Double Fine's publishing schedule though as the trailer still says 2019.
