In the latest PlayStation 5 vs PC comparison by Digital Foundry, PS5's GPU is around 20 per cent faster than 2070 Super and it's only 8 per cent slower than RTX 3070 in Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War.
We know that PlayStation 5's GPU packs some serious power, which is required to push the next-gen games up to 60 FPS or enable ray-tracing for gorgeous visuals. Ever since the console launched, Digital Foundry have been testing the performance on new games and today, they have released another video, comparing PC performance to PS5 in Activision's latest shooter Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War.
As you can see from the results below, PlayStation 5's GPU is capable of delivering faster frame-rates than RTX 2070 Super and it's close to RTX 3070, Nvidia's GPU from the latest 3000 series.
However, it's worth mentioning that PC settings that Digital Foundry used in their comparison are higher than PS5. Some of the settings on PC cannot go lower and particle effect resolution is one of the examples of this (comparison below).
While PlayStation 5 performance in Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War is still short of more powerful GPUs like RTX 2080 Ti, RX 6800 XT or RTX 3080, it's safe to say that PS5 owners will be more than happy with these performance results. With the price of the abovementioned graphics cards well over their MSRP, PS5 certainly looks like a solid choice for many gamers, once they are finally back in stock.
