The launch of Black Myth: Wukong has had an incredible impact on China's gaming market, sharply rising PS5 sales across the country. According to industry consultant Daniel Camilo, Sony's console demand surged as gamers line up for the action RPG, which has seen PS5 stock sell out countrywide.
Camilo shared on Twitter that Game Science's Black Myth: Wukong attracts different consumers, insulation from the gaming world. This game was tremendously famous and gathered a large audience; many purchased their PS5 consoles to play this title.
"We're seeing that 'contagion wave' of people who wouldn't normally consider gaming as something they would do, now being swept up by the whole Black Myth: Wukong hype and energy that's going on right now in China, which really did trigger a huge jump in console sales," explained Camilo.
He also emphasized that the sales of PS5 have reached unbelievable heights in China's biggest electronics market, Huaqiangbei in Shenzhen. This increase mirrors the greater trend that console sales have surged in the region, much driven by the game itself.
Besides the effect it had on console sales, Black Myth: Wukong did outstandingly in PC performance, raking a record of concurrent players and selling more than 10 million copies within all platforms since the launch.
It is currently available on PC and PS5 and still holds users spellbound in China and beyond.
