After long time, Sony has finally confirmed the PlayStation 5 Pro will hit markets on November 7th, 2024. The upgraded console now features a number of exciting changes, including support for VRR and 8K gaming.
It will also boast Wi-Fi 7. That makes this a major leap in performance over the standard PS5 model. Another substantial announcement that comes with the PS5 Pro is the addition of Game Boost to over 8,500 backward-compatible PS4 games.
This will offer improved performance for older games, although some titles will receive image quality bumps upwards. Besides these updates, many existing PS5 games will be updated for free to take advantage of the additional power found in the Pro. These will be labeled PS5 Pro Enhanced.
The list below comprises some of the titles set to receive such enhancement:
- Alan Wake 2
- Assassin's Creed Shadows
- Demon's Souls
- Dragon's Dogma 2
- Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
- Gran Turismo 7
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Horizon Forbidden West
- Marvel's Spider-Man 2
- Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart
- The Crew Motorfest
- The First Descendant
- The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered
The Japanese console maker has also promised better ray tracing, PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution for sharper graphics, and faster GPU performance courtesy of additional Compute Units, although only in PS5 Pro Enhanced titles.
Preorders for PS5 Pro will begin on September 26 and can be made available via select retailers and PlayStation Direct. This launch targets the offering of players with a much stronger power of experience in gaming.
